WELL, that didn’t work. Breaking into a Prospect shop, this thief had some trouble with his disguise, which fell off during his night-time escapades.

The break-in was one of two early this morning on Main North Rd that police believe may be linked.

In the first, about 4.45am, an alarm was activated at the Dick Smith Electronics store on Main North Rd after the premises was broken into. The thief stole a large amount of goods.

A man was seen running away from the store, wearing a black, hooded jumper, baseball cap, black track pants with stripes on the sides and a purple shirt.

Then, just over an hour later, the Iron Man 4×4 Service and Repair mechanics store on Main North Rd was also broken into.

A witness saw a man wearing a fluoro orange shirt and a black jumper running from the scene.

He drove off in a white VT Holden Commodore sedan, last seen heading east on Grand Junction Rd.

Police are investigating if the two break-ins are linked, and ask anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
