HE IS ONE man, a guitar and a loop machine.

And what Ed Sheeran can’t do with his voice, isn’t worth doing.

The BRIT Awards singer kicked off the Adelaide-leg of his national tour of X (Multiply) to a sold out Entertainment Centre crowd on Wednesday night — and he had them hooked from start to finish.

Sheeran opened the show with I’m a Mess, before moving onto crowd favourite Lego House.

He told the crowd he was willing to lose his voice as long as they were.

“Adelaide I want to hear you,” he said.

“Don’t be afraid to dance, clap or sing out of tune.”

The 24-year-old superstar is clearly a fan of mash ups, performing four throughout his set — and boy, they were a treat.

The first was a mash of his huge hit Don’t, No Diggity and Nina.

Sheeran then kicked it up a gear with Drunk before another mashup of Take it Back, Stevie Wonder’s Superstition and Bill Wither’s Ain’t No Sunshine before taking it back to Photograph off his album X.

Other than a few guitar changes, Sheeran didn’t leave the stage.

It was raw, acoustic pleasure for all your senses.

“Everything you hear is done tonight, live, with my feet and the loop machine,” Sheeran told the crowd.

“This is the fourth time I’ve been to Adelaide and the first time I’ve played this venue (the Entertainment Centre) and it’s pretty awesome.

“The only difference about this tour, is we’re going to get a little gangster.”

That’s when Sheeran belted out Bloodstream — a radio favourite right now.

The ginger-haired Brit also performed Tenerife Sea, The A Team and Give Me Love and a mashup of Feeling Good and I See Fire.

But my favourite performance of the night had to be the smash hit Thinking Out Loud.

It was a beautiful rendition of the hugely popular song (probably the number one wedding song right now) and everyone in the crowd had their phone out and swayed to Sheeran’s stellar vocals.

Before anyone wanted the show to finish it was onto the encore.

It was only fitting Sheeran included a mashup singing You Need Me, I Don’t Need You, 50 Cent’s In Da Club and Iggy Azalea’s Fancy, but it was the epic finale of Sing, which had the entire crowd on their feet.

Sheeran said Australia was his favourite place to tour.

And Australia has certainly welcomed Sheeran into the music family with open arms.

The show had me entertained from the first note to the epic finish.

I loved it, loved it, loved it.

Five ginger stars.

Sheeran plays his second show at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Thursday night before wrapping up his Aussie tour in Perth on Sunday.
